After much development, reactions, live "seen" markers, replies to individual messages, and more are now available natively in the Hookd app!
What are Modern Chat Features?
Modern Chat Features are a series of enhancements to make your in-app communication feel more intuitive and engaging. This means you can reply to individual messages to avoid confusion, use reactions to express your feelings about a particular message, and see exactly when messages are sent and read. These features ensure your chats are seamless, natural, and insightful. For example, you can even see if your date is hanging back in the chat. 😉
Key Benefits of Each Feature
Chat Replies: Managing multiple conversation threads is essential in today's fast-paced world. With message replies, you can clearly indicate which message you're responding to, making it easier to keep track of multiple subjects in the same chat. It's a shortcut to maintaining clarity and flow in your conversations.
Reactions: Not every message needs a full reply. Sometimes, a quick emoji is all it takes to show you're amused, touched, or even teasingly annoyed. Reactions let you communicate your feelings in the moment without breaking the rhythm of the conversation.
Live "Seen" Markers: Knowing whether your message has been read can provide valuable insights into your date's engagement. Do they reply instantly, or do they take time? Are they hanging back in the chat, waiting for your next message? Live "seen" markers help you gauge their level of interest and communication habits.
Message Translation: Unlike other apps, we don't charge to change your location or language settings. Whether you're traveling, relocating, or exploring connections across language barriers, you can now translate individual messages into any supported language with just a tap. It's perfect for bridging gaps in communication while broadening your dating horizons.
How to Use Each Feature
Getting started is simple. Here's how to use the new Modern Chat Features:
- Download the Latest Update: Head to the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) and ensure you're running the latest version of Hookd.
- Log In: Sign in to your account and navigate to your profile screen.
- Open a Conversation and follow these steps:
- Individual Message Replies: To reply to a message, swipe it to the opposite side of the screen until you feel a vibration or see "Replying" in the message box, then type and send your response as usual.
- Reactions: Long-press on a message to bring up the reaction options, then tap the emoji you want to use, and watch it appear above the message!
- Live "Seen" Markers: To check if a message has been read, tap on it to see the time it was sent and whether it's been marked as "seen." The latest message's status updates in real-time while you're in the chat.
- Message Translation: Long-press a message, tap the "Translate" button, and select your desired language. In seconds, the message will display in the chosen language.
